The Smithsonian founded the National Conference on Cultural Property Protection nearly 40 years ago. What started as a uniquely Smithsonian event now annually unites participants from museums and cultural properties around the nation and the world. The Smithsonian' Heritage preservation is a core strength with exemplary skills in security, facilities construction and management, risk assessment, and collections stewardship.
The 2016 National Conference on Cultural Property Protection will feature two days of sessions, June 1-2, given by more than 20 speakers, on topics ranging from visitor/public screening to cyber security. As always, networking is emphasized throughout the day and at a special evening reception offered this year at the Library of Congress.
The Conference will be held at the National Museum of Natural History on June 1, and the Newseum on June 2, where speakerbus solutions will be on display.
While finally on June 3 provides an opportunity for hands-on, interactive workshops.
