In financial technology, communication systems play a pivotal role in keeping trading operations secure, efficient, and adaptable.
Today, we’re excited to bring you insights from Timothy Game, our Chief Technology Officer at Speakerbus. Joining us from the European Centre of Excellence in London, Timothy will delve into the cutting-edge trends and challenges shaping Trader Voice Systems.
Whether you’re a seasoned expert or new to the world of trader voice, this conversation will provide useful insights into the future of trading communication.
How has the underlying technology changed in recent years?
The change from digital to SIP has transformed every aspect of trader voice systems. In today’s landscape, clients are moving away from isolated technology silos and dedicated hardware, gravitating towards more flexible, interconnected technology with service-based pricing models.
Additionally, many clients are adopting cloud-first strategies, and this is why we’ve evolved our offerings to include a comprehensive SaaS solution that complements our existing hybrid and on-premises options.
These approaches ensure we can meet the diverse needs of our clients, no matter where they are on their digital transformation journey.
What client challenges are you seeing in the marketplace?
We’ve been seeing a few regular challenges with our clients.
Trader voice has often been considered a 'dark art,' filled with complexities around integrating SBCs, SIP, PSTN, and other intricate connection methods.
The global pandemic amplified the demand for seamless, anywhere trading, reinforcing the need for adaptable and secure communication solutions. That’s why we’ve been diligently enhancing our secure web-based trading communication software, ARIA.
Our goal is straightforward: to simplify the tools traders rely on, and give firms complete control over how their traders access critical voice services, through dedicated hardware or soft clients like ARIA, we deliver a streamlined, SaaS-based white glove service that prioritises ease of use and reliability for our clients.
What else is Speakerbus doing to deliver 21st-century trading?
Two years ago, we decided that legacy technology and the overhanging disruption caused by the pandemic meant that now is the time for trader voice to be reset and bought into the 21st Century.
So we are:
- Ending distant-based connection pricing with the advent of a SaaS-based approach to private wire service delivery
- For anywhere, anytime trading. We are enabling a move to browser-based voice connectivity for all but the heaviest of users.
- We are adding new management capabilities, making it easier for you to support your entire trader voice estate, bringing the desktop endpoint and your private wires into a single tool.
Tell us more about Session Exchange?
We were the first to convert the trading floor to SIP-based technology, now we are transforming interbank connections to a session-based architecture hosted in the cloud.
From a techy point of view, this is exciting because we can build on this common SIP platform using simple software updates to introduce new features quickly for end-users and those who administer the service.
We are calling this new trader voice paradigm, Session Exchange and it will be fully operational, late 2024.
